Think it's just a rumour? We know it's hard to swallow that a reputed fashion institute like Pearl Academy has been asked to shut down operations, but it's no hearsay! The University Grants Commission (UCG) has indeed asked the institute to close down all its branches.

The reason behind all the hoo-ha lies within! A senior official from UCG has stated that Pearl Academy is an institute, and only a university can offer degrees in India. Also, there have been complaints over the institute awarding joint degrees with Britain's Nottingham Trent University.

If Pearl's operations really are illegal, it looks really bad for our fellow Pearlites! Let's hope Pearl Academy can strike a deal with the UCG and come out in the clear.
