Women Can Travel For Free In DTC And Cluster Buses From Today In The City

Remember how the news about free bus and metro rides for women was all over the place a while ago? Well, there’s a new development regarding the same and we’re here to share all the deets with you!

Without Charge | Seems like Delhi CM’s announcement of making DTC and cluster bus rides for the womenfolks of the city free of charge earlier this year has finally reached its climax with the issue of a notice late last night declaring that from today, 29th October 2019, Tuesday, i.e., today, the ladies of the city can ride these buses for free. However, the free rides scheme for the metro might take a while. Pink passes will be given to women upon boarding of the buses, 1.5 crores of which have already been printed with a petite message of women empowerment on them. What might surprise you is that around 10 lakh passes are likely to be issued each day. As many as 5,550 buses are expected to run on the occasion of Bhai Dooj as, apparently, free ride scheme for women is expected to add some buzz around the city.

Apart from this, Delhi will be the only city to have a total of 13,000 bus marshals including 6,000 civil defence personnel, home guards and ex-servicemen deployed to ensure the safety of women in a single day. These marshals will also be trained to aid the sick and handle emergency situations during the journey.

So, seems like the travel is not only going to be free but also safe for all the women in the city! Now, isn’t that really good news for Bhai Dooj?
