The government is currently working on the this bullet train, which is gonna cost them about Rs 43,000 crores and is likely to be launched by 2031. However, part of the route from Delhi to Lucknow may get kick started by 2029 and the distance between these two capital cities will come down to approx.1.5 hours ONLY! The bullet train, which will run at a speed of 250 kmph, will pass through cities like Greater Noida, Aligarh, Lucknow, Sultanpur and Jaunpur.
The fare for Delhi to Lucknow will be approximately Rs 2,000 while the fare from Delhi to Varanasi will be around Rs 3,250. There are also plans to extend the stretch from Varanasi to Kolkata, thereby reducing the travel time between West Bengal’s capital and Delhi to just 4 hours. The government is also considering the feasibility of double-decker high speed trains along this route, and that is seriously cool!
