To Make Public Transport Safer For Women, Delhi's DTC Buses To Get 10 Panic Buttons

The safety of women in Delhi is a much talked about topic and the Delhi government has decided to make public transport safer for female travellers and here’s how they’re going to do it!

Panic Button-Equipped DTC Buses | To make the DTC and Cluster Scheme buses safer for women, the government has planned to install 10 panic buttons in every bus. Earlier, they had planned to install 4 such buttons, but now the number stands at 10. There’ll be 5 buttons on each side of the bus and the panic buttons and live feed from the CCTV cameras would be linked to a central control room in the Transport Department’s office.

When a passenger presses the button, the control room and the DTC depot manager’s office shall be alerted. In case of an emergency, the police would also be alerted immediately. According to authorities, two-way communication with the driver would also be possible from the control room.

This initiative is a good step towards ensuring safety in the city and we hope this is implemented soon!
