This Soon-To-Open Metro Station On Pink Line Is Paying Homage To A Bharat-Ratna Awardee Engineer

Hey fellow Delhizens! Are you, like us, excited to travel on the soon-to-be-opened Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus to Lajpat Nagar stretch of the Pink Line?! Then here’s a quick fun fact about one of the metro stations on this Line!

Look Who This Metro Station Is Named After! | One of the metro stations on Delhi Metro’s Pink Line has been named after the prominent engineer and scholar, Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The metro station’s gonna be called Sir Visvesvaraya Moti Bagh Metro Station and it will be thrown open in August along with the Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus to Lajpat Nagar stretch of the Pink Line.

Now for those of you who don’t know who Sir Visvesvaraya is, here’s some info about him. A proud awardee of the Bharat Ratna, Sir M. Visvesvaraya is credited for the construction of dams, reservoirs and hydro-power projects all across the South India, which have proven their efficiency over decades. He was also awarded a Knighthood by King George V. Woah!

Well, we feel having his name on one of the metro stations is truly a befitting honour for him! Nicely done, DMRC!
