We all know how there is news of acute water scarcity in various parts of the city. But we just heard about this piece of development that might provide some respite for the citizens!
Beyond The Lake | The buzz is that the development work has already been initiated by the Delhi Government to revive Satpula Lake. This is a 14th-century lake situated inside the Satpula Fort complex which is located near Chirag Delhi, GK and Khirki Village of South Delhi. The Satpula Fort was built by Muhammad Shah Tughlak and it was used for irrigating the nearby areas.
It’s said the lake is supposed to have been endowed with magical powers and hence people would come and take a dip in the lake or take it back home in their bottles. It was once a channel carrying clean water to various residents next to it but is now a drain filled with sewage. With the revival of the lake, the groundwater in the area would be rejuvenated and the area would also serve as a tourist spot!
And it was just the previous month when the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had approved the plans to revive the lake along with 11 others by the use of Pythorid Sewage Treatment. These would be revived in 2 batches and we’re applauding this move.
We just hope that this move makes the city greener and proves to be beneficial in a time where water scarcity is becoming a huge issue by the day!
