This 10-Acre Park Built By DMRC Is Made Up Of Scrap Materials & Even Has A Rainforest
Ever wondered what happens to old construction materials once a new Delhi Metro station pops up? Well, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has a clever trick up its sleeve! Instead of tossing them aside, they did something super smart- reduce, reuse and recycle. They practically gave the materials a second life, ensuring that even as the city expands, nothing goes to waste. The way they’ve turned this recycling game into an art form is pretty impressive, and we can’t wait to share it with y’all.

Where Does All The Junk Go? | If you’ve ever wondered about where all the leftover metro construction materials go, then we’ve found the answer for you guys! DMRC has built Prakriti - Metro Park which has been entirely made using scrap materials! This 10-acre park has an auditorium, amphitheatre, meditation alcove, a playground for children, a gymnasium, a lake with a fountain and even a rainforest! Woah.

The main highlight of the park is the various art installations created from waste materials. Artists from across the globe have created these beautiful installations and we’re in awe! Keeping in mind the increasing pollution levels, the DMRC has made sure that no further harm is caused to the environment and have used topsoil from various underground station sites, planted medicinal and pollution-absorbing plants and created a rainforest.
When you visit the park, don’t forget to check out the Trellis Court, which is bang in the middle of the park and depicts the evolution of the DMRC in the form of 8 pillars. The park is within walking distance from the Shashtri Park Metro Station on the Red Line.
So head over here when the weather is playing nice and marvel at this humongous creation by the DMRC!
