Purana Qila Just Got A Facelift With A New Cafe, Museum, Sound & Light Shows & More
Remember how as kids, Sunday trips to Purana Qila were a MUST? Nothing would please us more than a boat ride on the placid lake there! Ah, the memories! And you know what? The same old Purana Qila just underwent a major revamp! Keep reading as we give you the deets.
What’s Brewing At Purana Qila? | Our dear Purana Qila just got a facelift and its lake has been restored to its original glory, guys! The Union Ministry recently inaugurated the beautiful lake, where boating will no longer be allowed for visitors.
The revamp work at Purana Qila was undertaken by National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC), which included landscaping, illumination of the fort, the development of a Central Antiquity Museum and repair of existing pathways.
The highlight of this revamp is the lake, where boating is now prohibited and people will not be allowed to take food items near it. The revamp took place in three stages - basic conservation activities of the fort, deepening of the lake, revamping of the museum and improving the visual appeal of the monument. A host of amenities have now been added to it like a cafeteria, parking area, souvenir shops, CCTV surveillance and more.
Officials from the Archeological Survey of India have said that the newly renovated monument will attract a lot of tourists. The sound and light shows will be reintroduced and a new thematic museum will also be added.
Looks like our Sunday trips to Purana Qila are now overdue and we must make our plans soon! Care to tag along?!
