Looking For Authentic Lebanese Food? We Checked Into Zizo At DLF Mall Of India And Here's Why You Should Too!

Traversing across the beautiful landscapes of Lebanon from Western Asia, the pet beetle called the Zizo has buzzed and caused ripples in our beloved city of Delhi. Zizo, in Lebanon is famously known to every child as a fond memory of the pet beetle they used to keep in their houses back in the good ol' days. 

The present day restaurant, with more than three outlets in Noida and Gurugram, derives their inspiration from this beautiful story.

The team at Zizo, well versed with the ingredients and authentic food being whipped up, are under the guidance of a chef from Lebanon, who visits his native place every now and then to update his menu with the most surprising ingredients. We had always heard that Zizo was the safest bet when it came to pronouncing Delhi’s best restaurant for Lebanese food, and very recently we even experienced it first hand.

Appetisers

Shawarma Caesar Salad

This is the one thing that many places don't go wrong with and thankfully Zizo is no such exception as well and whips up one of the most interesting Caesar Salads in town. The crisp lettuce is drenched wet with their in house mayonnaise and rolled with a generous helping of a flavourful chicken shawarma and finally topped with the crunchy croutons. All the salad and non salad lovers, do hit this one up, will you!

Trio Hummus

We feel that Zizo’s hummus can be adjudged as the best hummus in town and that would be saying something when almost every place is doing a Lebanese inspired menu. Comprising of their traditional hummus, basil variant and a spicy version too, the chefs at Zizo have pulled out all the stops in making us fall in love with their hummus. The pita bread it is accompanied with is like a dough full of heaven. Its hot, its fresh, its fragrant and you would be doing a disservice by not ordering these bad boys.

Mini Bites Platter

Now this is a platter that serves everything characteristically Lebanese. Full of Manakish and Samosas, they either have a vegetarian option or a stuffing of lamb. The garlic dip that comes along this platter is the one thing we would order repeatedly! The consistency of the dip coupled with the infusion of garlic really made it our absolute fav! We also got to know that the Zaatar (middle eastern spices) being used for the manakeesh are all authentic and imported from outside India. Could we be more happy?!

Main Course

Chicken Cordon Blanc

Here comes a dish that Zizo has executed with such precision which we never thought possible. Stuffed crusted chicken with cheese was the order of the day. Two huge pockets of chicken with a thick flavourful coating and the pull of the cheese on this dish was simply amazing. This dish is served with grilled vegetables and a dip which again demands respect. Fresh olives were shredded finely and mixed with mayo to give our tastebuds a blast of a time!

Grilled Lamb Kebabs

The kebabs here are nothing like one would have tried anywhere else. The meat is perfectly cooked on the grill and is served along with two flat breads and veggies. We loved the spices mixed in the kebabs and you will too! Thanks us later for suggesting these lip smacking delights for all mutton lovers!

Dessert

Lazy Cake

We were full to the brim by the time we came to the desserts but as they say, one should have a separate stomach for sweet endings! We were suggested the Lazy Cake by the polite staff of Zizo as one of the best dishes on offer and boy was it amazing! A brownie kinda dessert but with pistachios to give a genuine feel to the entire middle eastern affair that it was, the cake came topped with a vanilla ice cream and hazelnuts and what more could one want from life!

Zizo in Noida has opened with a huge applause from the people who love to experiment with food, who love Middle Eastern food and people who give due credit and respect to authenticity that the place rightly exudes. 

Apart from the lip smacking food, one could always look for refreshing drinks and mocktails here at Zizo and an ambience that is bound to make you reach for one of those volumes of books on food that they have so proudly displayed.
