Journey To Mumbai & Howrah From Delhi Will Soon Become Overnight With Speed Boost In Trains

If you’ve ever travelled to Howrah or Mumbai by train, you must know that it roughly takes about 16-18 hours to reach the destination. But, the good news is that soon, travelling from Delhi to Howrah and Delhi to Mumbai will take about 10-12 hours only! Here’s more on this.

Saving Time | The existing routes of New Delhi- Mumbai (including Vadodara and Ahmedabad) and New Delhi - Howrah (including Kanpur and Lucknow)  will be upgraded so that the trains can achieve a maximum speed of 160 km/hr as opposed to the present speed of 130 km/hr, making it an overnight journey. These 2 works have already been sanctioned and the feasibility study of these railway projects has been completed. 

This upgradation project is targeted to be completed in 4 years and several works are also being carried out to increase the safety in the train operations. Along with this, there is an addition in the line capacity and the signalling systems are being modernized! Railway stations are also provided with Automatic Block Signaling, Train Collision Avoidance System and many other new features!
