Inaccessible No More: India's Highest Ever Railway Line To Be Constructed In Leh Ladakh

There’s some awesome news for all those people who can’t ride a bike to Leh and were waiting for a railway track to be created - Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has finally heard our woes and we’re getting a train to the most beautiful location in the country, Leh!

The Bilaspur-Manali-Leh railway line will be the first to connect Leh by rail. It’s also going to be the highest ever railway line in India at 3,300 metres above sea level. The all-weather Leh rail network is one of the four important railway connectivity plans identified by the Defence Ministry along the China border. The railway line is going to be 498 kms long and the location survey for the same has already begun!

This train will go through Sunder Nagar Mandi, Manali, Tandi, Keylong, Koksar, Darcha, Upshi and Karo to reach Leh. The main aim behind this amazing new railway line is that the transport of arms and ammunition can be done easily all year long! AND

We can’t wait to finally take a train to Leh!
