Heart Shaped Tikkis, Paneer Pakodas And More @ This Famous Joint In Karol Bagh

If you’re half as much of a street food lover as we are, you’re going to love what we have in store for you. We can all agree that Karol Bagh is a gem of place, right? Hiding treasures like Tip Top Market and Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh is the go-to for all of us when it comes to antique items, second copy clothes, footwear, watches and basically everything. And to add to that, there are many local food joints in the market in addition to the established fast food chains and restaurants.

We found one such joint called ‘Sindhi Corner’ here which is mostly known for its heart shaped tikkis - yep, heart shaped! It’s located a bit away from the main Karol Bagh Market - on Ramjas Road near SGND Khalsa College. We obviously couldn’t stop ourselves from checking this place out and totally loved it!

Here’s what we dug into here:

Paneer Pakora

The Paneer Pakoras of this place are just as famous as the place itself! And it’s no surprise, because they taste even better than their signature tikkis. Neither the pakoras nor the tikkis were dripping with oil and that always scores extra points, doesn’t it? The pakoras were served with the same sour chutney that was served earlier and these tasted hella good with that!

Price | Rs 60

Aloo Tikki

This being their most popular dish, we had to try the famous heart shaped tikki. Super crunchy and crispy, the tikki was stuffed with aloo, chana dal, and even peas. Usually, tikkis at street joints are laden with all types of chutneys - mint, imli and even dahi; but that wasn’t the case here! It was served with this place’s unique green mint tamarind chutney with chopped onions in it. Totally loved this one!

Tikki Sandwich

Even though Tikki Sandwiches are a common dish, we don’t find all street food joints offering it on their menu. So obviously we had to try this once we saw it! The dish is basically their tikki stuffed between two plain white bread slices with a little chutney spread on ‘em. Nothing too fancy and definitely not buttery at all. Just like the rest of the dishes, it was also served with their chutney but frankly, it tasted better without it.

Price | Rs 40

Rabri Faluda

We just had to end our food feast with a dessert after standing in the heat and gorging on some delicious, piping hot food. And so we ended up trying their rabri faluda. There was a LOT of dry fruit in the glass including pistachios, almonds and cashew nuts. It tasted pretty average, like at any other food shop. Nevertheless, we were refreshed and our taste buds were soothed!

Price | Rs 70

You can also try their Golgappas, Chaat, Samosas and some other desserts like Rasmalai if you find yourselves at Sindhi Corner. There’s always a huge crowd around the shop, especially on Sundays. And there’s no seating area *sighs*, but they do have a few tables around where you can happily eat your meal. Or you can just get your food packed and have it in the comfort of your sofa.

We totally loved this place and it was worth the hype; but not enough to convince people to travel from South Delhi or Dwarka. But if you’re around Karol Bagh or Central Delhi, then you oughtta try this place for their cheap and yummy food.

We’re already looking forward to our next trip there. Are you coming?!
