We’re talking Japanese Film Clubs, amateur theatre, film productions, acting classes, French cinema galore and oh, lots more! Here’s a curated list of some off the wagon film clubs in Delhi that reaffirm our love for cinema and remind us that great masterpieces have been forged in moving pictures. 

The Lightcube Film Society

A game-changing film club that borders on revolutionary, the Lightcube Film Club believes that all the greatest truths of human life are revealed through cinema. They organize various types of festivals - Retrospectives of Directors’, where epic films from the past are screened and legendary directors of the past like Fritz Lang and Satyajit Ray are honoured anew. Membership is open to all, so start signing up guys!

Cinedarbaar

A one-of-its kind Think Tank made up of cinephiles, critics and strategists who believe in building new cultural ties and developing the cultural and creative industry through festivals, publishing and creating dialogues, Cinedarbaar is devoted wholly to exploring moving images. A pretty great club to watch out for - all you cinephiles!

Cine Club – Alliance Francaise

In collaboration with the esteemed French Embassy in India, The Ciné Club offers screenings of French films every Thursday at 6:30 pm in the ML Bhartia Auditorium. Operational all-year-round, these screenings are a great way to experience French culture and art through a wide selection of classical and contemporary films. The best part? All screenings are free of cost and open to all!

IIC Film Club

The India International Centre Film Club is one of the oldest, most exclusive film clubs in Delhi. Its membership is open to all members of the IIC. It typically screens about 4 - 6 films of merit and excellence. Not confined to just Indian cinema, the IIC Film Club wishes its members to sample the finest cinema from all over the world!

Japan Foundation Cinema Club

The message from the Japan Foundation Cinema Club is simple - Come, experience the culture of Japan! Regularly organizing scores of Japanese masterpieces for Delhiites, this Cinema Club is open and free for all! Located in the hub of Lajpat Nagar, all you have to do is walk in and experience Japan in all its splendour. Check it out!

Shamiana - The Short Film Club

Focussed entirely on short, focussed pieces of cinema, they screen all manner of short films, documentaries, photo-stories, video art, music videos and all that falls in between. All they say is that they love to binge-watch short films and invite you to do the same! A fantastic, lively group, Shamiana is one place we absolutely recommend you look-see!

The 48 Hour Film Project

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie - write, shoot, edit and score it - in just 48 hours! Habitat Film Club

The Habitat Film Club is extremely active, pretty exclusive and all parts fun! For an annual membership fee of Rs 938 (Non-Members), the Habitat Film Club takes you on a journey of the best cinema around the globe, regular interactive sessions with renowned directors, producers and actors, in addition to the cornucopia of screenings that happen super-often.
