From Dec., Metro Cards Will Come In Red, Orange & More Colours & Will Be Valid For Bus & Train Fares

Hola Delhizens! Here’s a piece of interesting news for you all. Did you know that our lifeline for travelling - the metro smart card - will soon change colours? Keep reading as we tell you more!

What’s Up With The Smart Cards? | Those plain and boring blue smart cards that we use in the Delhi Metro will soon be changed to bright colours like orange, red and yellow, as per our Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot. The DMRC is planning to roll out these newbie smart cards by mid-December.

These new cards will be completely different from the ones we use now and will have the tagline ‘’One Delhi. One Ride’’ on ‘em. So you’ll find a background of cubic grids in bright shades of red, yellow and more on the card. It will also bear the sketches of metro trains, DTC buses, cars and monuments. The features of the smart card will, however, remain the same as the ones currently in circulation.

Remember we told you that you’ll be able to use smart cards on buses and other modes of travel? So these new cards are gonna be the common mobility cards for us from December onwards. The Transport Department is making provisions for usage of these smart cards at ISBTs and railway stations.

Awesome move by our Transport Department!
