Expansion Of Terminal 1 & 3, New Runway By 2020 And More On The Cards For IGI Airport!

Remember we told you that our very own IGI Airport has made it to the top 20 busiest airports in the world? So now, the airport authorities are soon gonna kick off an insane expansion drive to meet the ever-growing passenger traffic in Asia’s seventh busiest airport *WOAH*.

Here’re More Deets | The airport’s operator, GMR-led Delhi International Airport Limited is looking into the expansion of Terminal 1 and 3 of IGI Airport. Construction of new runways, taxiways and widening of existing roads is also on the cards. 

As per DIAL, the first phase of the expansion, that is, the expansion of Terminal 1 of the airport will be done by 2021, which will then take the overall capacity of the airport from 70 million to 85 million passengers per year. Wow! The second phase of expansion essentially includes constructing an altogether new terminal. 

This year, IGI Airport is expected to cross the 70 million passenger traffic. A new Air Traffic Control Tower, which is set to be launched this year and the fourth runway to be launched by 2020 will significantly de-congest the airport as well. Perf!

Perhaps all that rush that we see at IGI Airport now-a-days, be it morning or evening, will come down drastically. Phew! That’s some awesome sauce news!
