DU Students Suspended For Swindling Money From Stall Vendors During The Annual College Fest

Delhi University is known for its amazing and vibrant college fests that happen every year during April and May. These fests are a welcome break and are eagerly awaited by the students and faculty. These events are not only a great opportunity to showcase diverse talents and creativity but also help students develop organizational skills as it is they who plan and execute these events. However, this year one such fest took a fraudulent turn.

Money Matters | It has been reported that allegedly almost 27 or more students have been suspended from Hindu College for engaging in financial fraud during the college’s annual fest, Mecca ’23. College fests have always been seen as a celebration of youth, talent, and a spirit of community, and with Delhi University’s students attending in throngs, these events prove to be a good place for businesses to put up stalls. However, this year students from Hindu College supposedly asked for exorbitant amounts of money from vendors for putting up stalls during the fest, which led to multiple vendors complaining and protesting outside the college principal’s office. Following this, the administration has taken appropriate action by suspending the students and debarring them from appearing in their upcoming exams unless they pay a fine of Rs. 10,000. This has resulted in more unrest with ABVP and the student body protesting to withdraw the notices and claim that the penalty was imposed without any inquiry.
