Driverless Trains Every 100 Seconds: Delhi Metro's Launching The Magenta Line This Oct!

We’ve got some fabulous news for Delhi Metro users, this October, Delhi Metro throws open to the public its Magenta Line spanning Janakpuri West and Botanical Gardens! Not only can you expect to get a train every 100 seconds but also a driverless one! WOAH!

The first phase of the metro that will be commissioned after three months will run on Communication Based Train Control (CBCT), a state-of-the-art signaling technology, which will help the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) slash its existing peak-hour frequency of 135 seconds to 100 seconds.

This CBCT technology will be fully functional by March 2018 which will allow trains to run on the same track with a reduced gap, thus allowing faster frequency. Though this higher frequency will also mean that DMRC will have to deploy more trains to meet the demand.

We’re just super happy that finally trains will be available at a higher frequency! AWESOME!
