This Is A Representative Image
It’s no news that plastic waste is extremely detrimental to the environment but the recent awakening of people’s conscience regarding the matter has set the city abuzz regarding the future course of action. Against this backdrop, there’s another move that has taken place in several parks of the city!
A Well-Timed Move | We just heard that approximately 110 parks in the city were made plastic-free on 2nd October, Wednesday which marked the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This step also happens to be in tandem with Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcement to make the country free of plastic by 2020! The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) removed plastic from these parks in 11 horticulture division, thereby making them plastic-free zones.
They also organised an awareness programme in these parks to let the people know about the drawbacks and ill-effects of single-use plastics - nice.
We’re looking forward to more such developments that’ll make our city more green and beautiful!
