Delhi's Oldest Church, St. James, is Up For a Sweeping Restoration & Revamp - Hear All About It

Delhi's oldest church is currently in a deplorably dilapidated condition for various reasons; seeing the plight of the edifice the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), an NGO focussed on historical restoration has taken it up as a restoration project and plans on giving it a makeover.

How the church has come to this | The constant rumbling of the trains near the bustling Kashmere Gate Metro Station and opening of the Heritage line has exacerbated the already dire situation. Along with that, many beautiful architectural features have also faded away and lost their glory due to seepage and drainage issues in the area.

Rather than restoring just the exteriors, INTACH will also focus on a list of valuable possessions which require meticulous scientific restoration. Being one of the greatest landmarks at Kashmere Gate, if transformed, this would lure in not just tourists but many locals too!
