Delhi Metro's 61 Busiest Stations To Be Decongested For Smoother Travel (YAYY)!

Hello, Delhizens! Are you tired of the endless queues outside the metro stations as you wait for your cabs or auto rickshaws? Do the traffic jams around stations make you tardy every morning? If yes, then your prayers have been answered! Read on to know how your daily commute is gonna change for the better soon!

Freedom From Chaos At Metro Stations | Delhi Metro has been making our lives easier each passing day and we couldn’t have been happier with this piece of news! A lil’ birdie told us that Delhi’s 3 municipal corporations are planning to decongest the most crowded stations on the Delhi Metro’s circuit. Out of the 206 stations, 61 of those will be decongested under this project as most of them have become choke points due to haphazard parking and encroachments. The committees have come up with the ‘Multi Modal Transport Integration’ Plan (MMT) that will cover the busy Blue, Yellow and Red lines apart from the Violet, Green and Pink lines. The plan involves mapping the station complexes, identifying problem areas and preparing ‘parking and traffic movement plans’ for each. 

Also, the project includes designated lanes for app-based cabs, taxis, e-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, DTC & DMRC buses and bikes at each station. Some of the stations that’ll be part of this drive are Shalimar Bagh, NSP, Krishna Nagar, Laxmi Nagar and more. We applaud this initiative and couldn’t have been happier!
