Built In 1982, The Second Oldest Terminal Of IGI Airport - T1A Is To Be Demolished Soon

The second oldest terminal of our beloved IGI Airport, i.e, T1A is soon going to be demolished, you guys! Lying unused since 2010, it will be bulldozed as part of the wider expansion drive that’s in the pipeline.

What’s Happening Here | Built in 1982, this terminal has previously hosted international dignitaries who visited India to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meetings. It was exclusively reserved for Air India from 1988 till 2010 and was commonly known as the Airbus terminal. 

The demolition is taking place ‘cause of our government’s plans to make IGI Airport the world’s best airport! The work is about to start in a few days and the expansion of IGI Airport itself will take place in 3 phases starting from 2018, with the last phase taking its course in 2026. 

It is said that in the coming years, T2 will be also be taken down completely to make way for a world class T4! 

Looks like the government is all set to transform IGI Airport!
