6 Destinations To Visit Now That The Govt Is Easing Restrictions On Flight Travel


With the slow drop in the number of cases that came with the 2nd wave of the pandemic, the government has recently started easing restrictions on flight travel. This spells out good news for those that have been desperately waiting to pack their weekender bag and get to explore all the mysteries that our country holds. This is why we’ve culled up a list of some beautiful destinations in the country that you can now fly to directly for some much-needed vacation time! Read on!  

1. Jaisalmer

This former medieval trading centre in the heart of the Thar desert is also known as the Golden City because of the immensely pretty yellow sandstone architecture that exists there. The city is full of ornate historical buildings and some that you absolutely must visit are the majestic hilltop Jaisalmer Fort, grand Maharaja's Palace and intricate Jain temples. You can also get up to some adventurous activities here for that adrenaline rush like quad biking, dune bashing, parasailing and more! 

2. Mysore

Mysore is nestled between the immense greenery of the Chamundi hills and the weather there is always a delight. Known for also being one of the cleanest cities in the country, Mysore is filled with gorgeous heritage spots you can visit as well as take in some pretty sights. The majestic Mysore Palace is always a must-visit for those that drop by here but the place is also a truly delightful experience for a shopaholic. Known for their local exquisite craftwork and sweets like Mysore painting, the sweet dish Mysore Pak and the gorgeous Mysore silk saris, so get ready to whip out your wallets at every turn!

3. Shimla

Shimla, being the capital of Himachal Pradesh has retained the colonial charm after being the summer capital of British India & then the capital of Punjab once. The pretty architecture and the numerous churches and temples still hold that old-world charm and the beautiful city also captures the hearts of those that visit it. Once there, you have to visit the Chadwick Waterfalls, hike through the dense pine forests, take a ride on the cute toy train and even take a walk on the Mall road!

4. Kullu

Located on the banks of River Beas, Kullu is just some 10 km away from the Bhuntar Airport, making it a great option for your vacation. Also known as the ‘valley of gods’ the beautiful district of Kullu is a breathtaking experience with sprawling hills, gurgling waterfalls and views that go on for days. Some fun things to do here include visiting the hot springs at Kheerganga, Trekking to Chanderkhani Pass and Rohtang Pass, as well as experiencing the Great Himalayan National Park. 

5. Leh

Leh is a union territory of Ladakh and is located on the banks of the Indus River at an altitude of 3,500m. Hemis, Alchi, Lamayuru, Shey and Thiksey are some of the most popular monasteries of Ladakh that attract tourists from all over the world, and the unique demographics, Buddhist religion and the untouched beauty add to that appeal. When here, visit the famous Pangong  Lake(Half in China) and the world’s highest motorable road Khardungla (18350 ft) which will blow you away!

6. Shillong

Shillong is a hill station in the North East and is also known as the “abode of clouds. The entire hill station is one of the smallest in India but oh-so-pretty! It is said that the rolling hills around here reminded the British of Scotland, which is why the place is also known as ‘Scotland of the East.’ Elephant Falls, The Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Ward's Lake and Sweet Falls are just some of the pretty attraction spots you should visit around here!
