5 Important Things You Need To Know About The Newly Introduced Pink Booths In Delhi!

If you have been out and about in Delhi, then you have probably spotted one of these aesthetically pleasing yet socially important Pink Booths. These booths were installed with the purpose of (and you probably guessed this because of the stereotype) helping women. Here’s what you should know about Delhi’s Pink Booth and what purpose they serve!

1. Their Aim Is To Facilitate Women Complainants

Pink Booths are police assistance booths that are meant for the sole purpose of addressing any and all complaints made by women. It is possible to lodge a complaint over here without having to go to the police station. Pink Booths have given a much-needed sense of sound security to a vulnerable section of society. Many hawkers and shoppers have expressed that they feel safer due to the presence of these booths.

2. Guidance Towards Any And All Matters Regarding Women's Safety

If you’re a woman, you need not think twice before approaching these booths. They recognise that women have an extremely strong instinct when it comes to their safety, and thus even complaints that might be considered ‘trivial’ to others are addressed with the utmost care here. They promise justice by providing instantaneous relief whenever possible and taking swift actions without wasting any time.

3. Fully Equipped By Women Staff

Sometimes the empathy between two women is what it takes for justice, and Pink Booths understand that. To ensure an unhesitant and comfortable environment for all those women entering these booths, they are fully equipped with female staff. On any given day you should find 3 women police officers working in the booths from 12  to 10 PM. Hence, you’ll be able to communicate your issues free from any constraints.

4. 11 Pink Booths Have Been Inaugurated All Over Delhi

The Delhi Police recently opened 11 Pink Booths in North West Delhi in an effort to guarantee the safety of women on all fronts. The booths have been specifically placed in such locations that are frequented often by women and children, for example, educational institutions like Delhi University, colleges, or shopping centres. 2 of these booths were inaugurated by DCP New Delhi at Malcha Market & C-Hexagon under PS Chanakyapuri & Tilak Marg respectively as well.

5. Part of Delhi Police’s Tejaswini Women Safety & Empowerment Initiative

The Tejaswini Women Safety & Empowerment initiative was introduced in July of 2021 with the objective of reaching out to women from all social classes and older women as well as defending the rights and dignity of women and children in the North-West district. The Special Commissioner of Police, Law & Order of Delhi Police, Deppender Pathak said these Pink Booths will act as a ‘one-stop centre for them (women) to approach police’ as a part of the Tejaswini initiative.

Hopefully, this list has made you more aware of Delhi’s initiatives toward making the city safer for its Dilliwalas!
