A lot of restaurants in India have taken the initiative to spread awareness and empowerment among the differently-abled people by employing them. These restaurants help them become more confident while providing financial independence to them. We certainly were impressed and touched by this initiative, which is why we’ve compiled this list of restaurants that are owned and run by differently-abled people to spread awareness. Read on to know about these good folks! 

1. Mitti Cafe, Bangalore

For all the good vibes and aesthetic ambience, visit Mitti Cafe which believes in empowering differently-abled people with both physical and mental disabilities. You will be provided with placards, menu cards printed in braille, notepads, and light buttons to make the communication between you and the staff effective. So, make your contributions and visit them when you are in town and don’t forget to try their Aloo Papri Chaat and for the love of pizza, you’ve got to try their loaded pizzas with extra soft pizza base!

2. Echoes, New Delhi

Echoes is a cafe in Delhi that has over 40  deaf & mute staff members who give you a warm welcome upon arrival. Here, you will be provided with placards to ask for something, a button to call the staff, and a notepad to write down your order. Not only this, they have an entire wall that contains hand signals depicting different alphabets in the English language. Now you can learn something new while devouring scrumptious dishes on their extensive menu like Dragon Cheese Chicken Rolls with Echoes Cheese Melt Dip!

3. Cafe Arpan, Mumbai

Cafe Arpan is an inclusive cafe that was started by Yash Charitable Trust in 2017 and is now being run by differently-abled people. You will find people with autism and down syndrome spreading joy and love here. They believe in creating awareness about people with developmental disabilities and we think that this is the coolest way ever to do that. Don’t you agree? And while you are there, don’t forget to get your hands on their Berry Blast Mocktail while you are devouring their Extra-Cheese Fries!

4. Vitthal’s Kitchen, Jaipur

Another initiative was taken up by Vitthal’s Kitchen for the betterment of society by hiring differently-abled people as their staff. They give you a 5-minute crash course on sign language and how to order in a specific manner to understand and be understood by the people present there. This aesthetic restaurant serves more than just food and by the time you are there, you will feel warmth and loads of love spreading within you. But as we are all foodies, how can we not talk about food? So, guys, when you head over, try their Dal Tadka and Tandoori Bharta with Missi Roti because you wouldn’t want to miss out on them!

In Terrasinne Cafe, you’ll be greeted by specially-abled staff who are speech and hearing impaired. Upon visiting, you’ll receive a specially designed menu which will let you be a part of the staff’s life to understand them better. It has a breakdown of sign language which you’ll use to order and communicate with the staff.
