In our quest to find the scrummiest delicacies for you, we scoured far and wide in Amar Colony, the OG South Delhi foodie hub. From their age-old shops and Punjabi street food to the most up and coming eateries, this market has them all. Wait, did you just remember all those shopping trips with your mom that concluded with some much-needed binging at Amar Colony? 1. Chole Bhature @ Baba Nagpal Corner

To start off with something that will truly take you back to your childhood, Nagpal’s is a household name in the area. How could we not try them out? We decided to kickstart your expedition with their super famous Chole Bhature and it was everything we could’ve wanted and more! Served on their signature steel plate, the bhature were puffed up and fried to perfection whereas the chole were exquisitely piquant, just the way we like them. Trust us, this uber famous eatery should be your next spot for a wholesome breakfast!

2. Golgappas @ Sharma Chaat Bhandar

Our next stop was a small, imperceptible chaat stall that stole our hearts. The true Delhiite in us was itching for some mouth-watering golgappas when we came across Sharma Chaat Bhandar. We don’t know what we loved more here, the huge line of people or the delicious aroma of fresh chaat. We tried out their golgappas, with some extra paani (obviously!) and we were transported back to those golgappa eating challenges days with our besties. The amazing peeps here make use of the tangiest red chutney, which was the favourite part of the dish!

3. Sunny Leone Chaap Rolls @ Veer Ji Malai Chaap Wale

When we stopped at Veer Ji Malai Chaap Wale, we were blown away by the huge varieties of chaap and tandoori food they had on offer. So after much thought, we decided to order up Sunny Leone Chaap Rolls. These creamy and supremely succulent rolls of chaap came with a side of diced onions in green chutney and our day was made. We certainly couldn’t have asked for more!

4. Spl. Tandoori Jalandhari Omelette With Cheese @ Omelette Hut

Next, we moved on to Omelette Hut. This place has over 40 variants of egg dishes so we were spoilt for choice! We decided to have their bestseller Spl. Tandoori Jalandhari Omelette with Cheese and we’re quite proud of our choice. This heavenly omelette was profusely loaded with cheese and tandoori sauces. It was perfectly creamy, fluffy and totes packed with flavours, everything we could’ve hoped for!

5. Masala Dosa @ Muttu South Indian Anna

By this time, we’d started to crave something from the down south so we decided to head over to Muttu South Indian Anna. They’re famous for their piping hot idlis, lip-smacking vadas and filling dosas. So we ordered up their signature Masala Dosa and boy oh boy, what a blast of spices and flavours this one was. Served with two bowls of sambar, coconut chutney and tomato chutney, we practically licked our plates clean!

6. Chicken Tandoori Momos @ Hunger Strike

How can one go to Amar Colony and not have tandoori momos? Hunger Strike basically invented this crazy fad right there in the market. With a whole lot of excitement, we dashed over to try out their super famous Chicken Tandoori Momos. These delicious dumplings were dripping with a delicious and buttery sauce, served with mint chutney, the classic momos chutney and some mayonnaise, this dish was like an explosion of zest in our mouths. From the spiciness to the soothing sauces, right down to the addition of onions, we loved everything about this item!

7. Chicken Keema Roll @ 34, Chowringhee Lane

This market not only brings you homegrown brands but also those that we recognise all too well. We headed out to our favourite roll place in town, 34 Chowringhee Lane. We decided to try out their Chicken Keema Roll to satiate all our cravings. Made right in front of our eyes, this spicy roll hit all the right tones with its flavour profile. The crunchy roti as the perfect companion for the moist and drool-worthy keema. It’s safe to say that Chowringhee Lane has our stamp of approval!

8. Red Velvet Cup @ Meggish

Desserts are truly our best friends so our search to appease our sweet tooth culminated at Meggish. It’s a local bakery with some of our favourite baked items and we could hardly resist the allure of everything in this little slice of heaven. We tried the Red Velvet Cup, the smooth creaminess of which stole our hearts and we’ll certainly keep going back for more!

9. Crunchy Munchy Ice Cream @ Insta Freeze

We bet you’d agree that no crawl is ever complete without ice cream, right? Well, to conclude our crazy journey, we reached Insta Freeze, the most famous ice cream stall in Amar Colony to try out their yummy goodnesses for ourselves. We ordered the Crunchy Munchy, made with our favourite KitKat and some butterscotch. Just as soon as we got over the awe of the ice cream being made in front of our eyes, the beautifully delicate rolls, melted over our tongue. And who doesn’t love a generous helping of colourful sprinkles?

10. Flavoured Milk @ An Unnamed Stall

In the scorching Dilli summers, we can think of nothing better than some chilled milk. Right in the middle of Amar Colony’s main square, you will find a small milk stall, night after night, whipping up some delish flavoured milk. The best part of the stall is the sheer popularity as people horde in to get some of this yummy goodness. This drink is budget-friendly, yummylicious and healthy. And don’t forget to try the cold and creamy Falooda Kulfi here as well!
