Movie nights with fam have evolved into everyone cosily lounging in the living room and enjoying the new releases online on the biggest screens in the house - our televisions, instead of the earlier sporadic trips to the cinema. 1. Skater Girl

Initially set to release in 2020, Skater Girl is a unique, Indian-American movie of the coming-of-age genre. It is releasing on Netflix on the 11th of June, Friday. The story is eccentric because it’s about a teen from rural India discovering her passion for skateboarding. We can all imagine, then, how tough her journey ahead would be for the lack of popularity of skateboarding in India. Sports dramas have a unique way of leaving us hopeful and motivated, which is much needed!

2. Dhamaka

Kartik Aaryan fans, this one's for you! Dhamaka is an upcoming action thriller film based on the popular South Korean movie, The Terror Live. This much-awaited film is about a journalist who receives threatening calls on air. Sounds like a plot we cannot miss. Although the exact date of release is unknown, this one is coming soon on Netflix!

3. Toofan

This highly anticipated film starring Farhan Akhtar has faced numerous postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Made from the collaboration of the super hit Bhag Milkha Bhag duo, Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Toofan is about a criminal’s transformation to a national level boxer. We can already guess how the acting will be out of the park in this one. Although this sports drama was set to release on Amazon Prime on 21st May, seeing the disheartening conditions of the second wave, the OTT release was postponed.

4. Bhuj: The Pride Of India
Bhuj: The Pride Of India has a dazzling star cast. Starring Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, and many more talented actors, the film tells the untold story of a brave IAF squadron leader, Vijay Karnik (Ajay Devgn). Set in the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war in 1971, this film is already giving us the chills! Although it was supposed to release in theatres on 14th August 2020, it will now be coming soon on Hotstar. Based on a true story, it appears to be a very interesting film, which we’re pretty excited about!

5. Penthouse

Bobby Deol, Arjun Rampal, and Sharman Joshi have come together in Penthouse (2021) and are all set to give us a chilling and suspenseful thriller! This film also marks the debut of filmmaker Abbas Mastan on OTT. Said to be a remake of a German film, ‘The Loft’, Penthouse is a mystery/thriller movie about 5 friends finding a dead body at their penthouse. What do you think will happen next, we are eager to find out!
6. Meenakshi Sundareshwar

Produced by none other than Karan Johar, Meenakshi Sundareshwar is a comedy and romance film featuring Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani. Set in Madurai, the film is a quirky story of how a young couple decides to marry and the chaotic and hilarious story of their relationship, marriage, and the struggles of long-distance! Saade Jeetu Bhaiya is back! Marking the debut of Jitendra Kumar urf the fan favourite Jeetu Bhaiya on Netflix, Jaadugar is a love story, involving magic. Literally, because it’s a story about a small-time magician! Set in a small, football-loving town, Neemuch, this magician with not a single athletic bone must win a local football match to win the heart of his lady-love. Woah, that sounds fascinating!

8. State Of Siege: Temple Attack

State Of Siege: Temple Attack is based on the terror strike in Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on 24th September 2002. Featuring Akshaye Khanna and marking his digital debut, this film will premiere on Zee5. Akshay Khanna will be playing the role of a special task force officer, in charge of the mission. The film highlights the role of the National Security Guards in gunning down the terrorists and neutralizing the situation. Akshaye is pretty excited to “be in the uniform” and boy do we look forward to this film!
9. Bulbul Tarang
Next, in this list of sport-dramas, rom-com, and action and suspenseful thrillers, is Bulbul Tarang, a social drama film starring Sonakshi Sinha. Based on a true event, Bulbul Tarang is the story of how a girl fights with social barriers and challenges the rules after these barriers prevent her fiance from partaking in a wedding custom. In addition to Sonakshi Sinha, Bulbul Tarang also features Tahir Raj Bhasin and Raj Babbar, and will be streaming on Netflix soon!
10. Haseen Dilruba

Y’all must have heard about this Taapsee Pannu starrer film, for it was supposed to release in the theatres in September 2020, but got postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Haseen Dilruba will premiere directly on Netflix. Haseen Dilruba is an enthralling psychological thriller and crime drama. The story revolves around a wife who is under investigation as a suspect for her husband’s murder. The film also features Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane, and we are already thrilled about its release!
