6 Best Breakfast Places In Mylapore To Start Your Day On A Yummy Note

Home to the grand Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Mylapore is one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Chennai. Although famous for its beautiful tree lined avenues and the katcheri sessions (an assembly of Carnatic musicians), Mylapore has also established itself as a hub for the foodies of Chennai. Be it Continental or South Indian, all is available here. Keeping in mind that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we present to you a list of 6 places that serve the best brekkie in all of Mylapore.

1. Rayar’s Mess

Rayar’s Mess has been serving the locals with homely idlis and vadas since pre-independence times. Located in a narrow street, the sitting area may only accommodate 16 people at a time, but that does not deter the patrons who have been coming here for decades. The menu is short - only idlis, vadas and pongal, along with filter coffee but nowhere else would you get a more authentic breakfast at such a low price. In the words of the owner, “No one comes to Rayar’s thinking it’s a hotel. For everyone, it’s like visiting a friend’s home.”
