Water Babies, These Are The 9 Best Places For Scuba Diving In And Around Andaman
If you're at the tropical islands, you cannot ignore the underwater marvels that await you! So head to these places, strap on your diving gear and prepare to be amazed!
1. Lighthouse

Lighthouse at Havelock island is the most popular destination for scuba diving and hence draws a lot of crowd as well! Popular diving schools include Blue Planet Scuba and Barefoot Scuba. Personal trainers accompany you all the time and you're always well looked after! The depth at lighthouse ranges from 6 to 20 metres.

2. Mac Point

Located at Wandoor Beach, the main attraction of Mac Point are the coral reefs and the dugongs that are otherwise a rare sight in Andaman so Mac Point is the ideal place to go if you want to see them! We also love the rugged hard corals found here. The depth is 10 to 14 metres which is not too much, as compared to some of the other scuba diving spots.

3. The Wall

Near the Havelock Jetty, The Wall is the best local site where all levels of scuba diving courses are available. The depth of the water is 10 to 30 metres. Along with vivid hard and soft corals, you will find Pufferfish, Lionfish, Scorpionfish & Angelfish can also be seen here, tucked away in their holes. Among other aquatic life, you'll find Nudibranch and KuhlRays as well.

4. North Point, Cinque Island

A government boat or ferry will drop you to Cinque Island, which is around 40 kilometers from Port Blair. This place is only suitable for expert divers. Go here in July and August or from September to December because it's only then you'll find the reefs and the baffling marine life in full clarity of up to 80 feet. The island is completely devoid of human life which will only enhance your diving experience.

5. Bala Reef

Located at Little Andaman, the exploration area is of 4 square kilometers. The picture perfect life down under has a variety of hard as well as soft corals of different hues. One of the best places you could possibly dive at, it's under the tribal reserve so you might have to take permission from the forest department prior to your visit.

6. Barracuda City

Barracuda City is indeed the road less travelled. Ideally the site is for intermediary or expert level divers as the secrets of the ocean are revealed in front of you through the hues of the corals, and the varieties of fish which includes stingrays, surgeonfishes and coral fishes. The depth of clarity ranges from 25 to 30 metres!

7. Seduction Point

Staghorn Corals will welcome you at Seduction Point, the entirety of which is inhabited by Napoleons and other marine organisms. Small fish also inhabit the Staghorn Corals. True to its name, this diving site is quite enticing with its underwater treasure trove. Expert level divers get to discover new and unexplored sites here.

8. Turtle Bay

Lots of rays can be sighted here, at this diving point. It's an easy 14 meters dive and is a peaceful and tranquil one which makes it a laid back place to have a diving experience at! The best time to visit is from May to October. If you would like to spend your weekend amidst the sun and the sand, Turtle Bay is the place to be. You might also just get to spot a few rays and turtles in the sand.

9. Dixon’s Pinnacle

A spot for only advanced level divers, Dixon’s Pinnacle traverses a depth of 18 to 30 metres. Three large pinnacles are surrounded by a host of marine life which include Barracuda, Giant Trevally, Tuna, Mackerel & Giant Groupers. You will also definitely get to see sea sponges at your visit. Schools of Batfish and Glass fish can also been seen. The occasional Napoleon Wrasse is also not an uncommon sight here!
